Wrexham - Corning Factory

Controlled Group were subcontracted to P P O’Connor to carry out the explosive demolition of four major structures at the former Owens Corning factory, Wrexham.

The two steel recuperator stacks were 58m high 12m wide and weighed 400 tons. Each recuperator stack was prepared and felled separately.

In addition Controlled Group brought down: - - Four circular concrete storage silos 31m high. - A combined concrete & steel storage silo building 47m high. - A steel framed silo storage tower supported on 12 columns, weighing 500 tonnes and 33m high.
